This cardboard Halloween décor cost us nothing to make but everyone loved it! If you have some of these items on hand you can easily create your abandoned home and add a whole extra level of spookiness! This is a pretty quick project, so lets get started!
What you’ll need:
- cardboard (about the width of your windows)
- spray paint (we used left over paint and used a combo of brown and black)
- x-acto knife or something similar to cut the cardboard into strips
- heavy duty tape (like gorilla or duct tape)
All you need are some regular cardboard boxes (nothing fancy so save a few those amazon packages-lol). Cut the boxes down into 4 panels to make it more easy to work with.
Using the spray painted we created squiggly patterns to add some texture and break up the solid color.
Next cut the cardboard into long strips to create your planks of wood. We made them uneven for a little extra character.
Using a strong tape we placed loops on the back of each board in the corners. Then we stuck the boards in random patterns across the windows.
Just a different view on the porch. Everyone in the neighborhood loved it. We had people ask to take pictures in our yard and wanted to know how we made them. We left the boards up for several days and didn’t have any problem taking them down. They were so light (just being cardboard) we tossed them in a large trash bag and into the attic to use again next year! 👻
Happy Halloween! 🎃
