We are at our last port excursion today and tomorrow we will disembark in Buenos Aires! But for today we are visiting Montevideo Uruguay. We have heard Montevideo is sometimes referred to as the sister of Buenos Aires because the cities have several similarities. We are about to explore and see what she has to offer!
To start this was a very nice port entrance. Our ship was able to dock and a shore a representative was there to greet and hand out maps. We decided to skip a tour and venture the inland ourselves. The city itself was beautiful. The buildings had beautiful details, lots of street art, wonderful cafes, and so on. It was charming, clean and the people were very nice. Our stop was during the weekend and we came across several handicraft, antique and resale markets.
There city had quite a few green spaces and people we out exercising. We found this workout circuit in a park and decided to burn off some energy 🏃
After lots of exploring and playing in the park we worked up a bit of an appetite! One of the main things our tour advisor on the ship mentioned was the amazing Uruguay BBQ. All we had to do was follow our noises! A train station converted into a shop and food market was filled with restaurants utilizing this traditional style of cooking. And it was pretty good! 😋 One of the main highlights we have enjoyed on this cruise was the various local cuisine. It would almost be a shame to not give some of these different foods a try.
After a good fill of food, shopping and fun we decided to get an early start back to our ship. We have to start packing our bags. 💼 Can you believe tomorrow our South American tour will come to an end? 🙁 Our cruise ship will dock in Buenos Aires. We will spend a short visit there and soon be working our way home. Time always flies when you are having so much fun!
